With Individual Health Insurance and Family Medical Insurance you protect yourself and your loved ones from the expenses of an unexpected major sickness or hospitalization In this new age of health insurance, when considering a new individual health insurance plan, we must first determine whether to apply on Covered California to take advantage of premium subsidies or OFF exchange as your household income is greater then certain limits. Should you qualify for premium subsidies and what is called cost sharing, Clarify will be able to enroll you in a Covered California plan online. Since monthly premium payments are now driven by annual household income we want to make sure you apply for the plan that is most suitable to your needs and situation. In addition, at the 138% of FPL (federal poverty level), many now qualify for no cost health insurance coverage through Medi-Cal. In addition, children are now automatically eligible for free or low cost Medi-Cal coverage if household income is below 258% of the FPL (federal poverty level) for a given family size. So when you give us a call, our first step would be to determine whether you should apply for a subsidized plan on the Covered California exchange or OFF the exchange. If ON the exchange, Clarify Insurance can complete your online application from start to finish. If OFF the exchange we will start your application and send you a link so that you can complete it online directly with the insurance carrier of choice. Either way, we will guide you through the whole process. Health insurance plans have been standardized to include minimum essential coverages: in simple terms, plans now come in about 5 tiers - Catastrophic (age limitations apply), Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Most people not covered by a group plan, should have by now applied for individual coverage. For the 2015 season, open enrollment will extend from November 15, 2014 to February 15, 2015. There are however special enrollment periods to account for: loss of group coverage, moving to a different area, changes in family composition through divorce, separation, birth of a new child etc.
